A childhood is continuous.
The support around it is not.

We exist to change that.

The Reach Foundation helps the adults around children build support that is coherent, connected and consistent—from cradle to career—so that every child can enjoy a life of choice and opportunity.

WHAT WE KNOW:

It takes a village.

Babies, children and young people are held, taught, treated and encouraged by hundreds of adults across dozens of settings—each built separately, funded separately, answerable only for its own slice of a child's life. This means that support often arrives in fragments.

WHERE WE START:

Great schools are necessary, but not sufficient.

We help the people around children—schools, services, families and communities—connect the support they each provide, so childhood holds together.

We help individuals and institutions join up their work, in the neighbourhoods where children actually grow up. We have been doing this for more than a decade, beginning in Feltham, in west London.

WHAT WE DO:

Four activities,
all in service of one idea.

We are an organisation built around an argument: that children deserve more than any single institution alone can give them.

Leadership & workforce

We grow the people this work needs—leaders and teams who can think across institutions, not only within them.

Innovation

We take on the hardest problems in joining up support, and test what is possible.

Places & partnerships

We bring schools, services, families and communities together to connect their work around children, cradle to career.

Evidence & influence

We make the case, nationally, that this is how childhoods should be supported—and show that it can be done.

WHERE WE WORK:

Units of change

From a single person to a whole place, all of our work is aimed at the level where it can actually change a child's life.

Individuals

A single person: a leader.

Cohorts

A group of leaders from different institutions, learning and working towards the same end together.

Institutions

A single organisation: a nursery, a school, a trust or a service.

Neighbourhooods

We grow the people this work needs—leaders and teams who can think and act across institutions, not only within them.

Places

Larger still: a town, a city region or a county—
a collection of neighbourhoods.
